Barbara Poggiali has an international professional experience in technology and innovation. Since September 2014, she is the Head of Strategic Marketing for Poste Italiane, she’ currently covering this role after 3 years of professional experience in the field of education and innovative startups.
Barbara has been Vice President with operational responsibilities and Member of Executive Committee of the LUISS University, advisor and board member of the startup Beintoo, after an experience as Partner of Earlybird Italy, a venture capital fund.
Barbara is also board member of several companies’ listed: Falck Renewables, SNAI and ASTM, Bocconi University and the Foundation of the Museum of Science and Technology Leonardo da Vinci. She has completed the first-class training for the Board of Directors “In the boardroom”, organized by Valore D in 2012.
After a degree and PhD in Engineering at MIT in 1984 (Pat), she has started her professional activities in McKinsey and then at Bain. She has participated in the startup of Omnitel (now Vodafone) covering several roles such as Director of Strategic Planning, Director of the Consumer Division and Director of the Northwest.
Then another startup with Dix.it Consortium, followed by eBiscom (now Fastweb) with the role of General Director, with focus on media activities and the telecom assets in Germany. In 2003 she joined the new management team committed in the turnaround of Cable and Wireless in London.
In 2004 Barbara joined the RCS MediaGroup holding the position of Chief Development Officer with responsibilities for business development, international development, M & A, new strategies and activities supervision until December 2008, covering even multiple position as board member of several subsidiaries companies of the Group.
From January 2009 to September 2011 Barbara has been CEO of Dada SpA, where she was Board member since December 2004.
She always takes care of women’s issues and young talents: for this reason she has started a project on equal opportunities and for more than 20 years she has coordinated the recruiting activities of undergraduates for the MIT. Furthermore Barbara has several experiences as mentor, with PWA (Professional Association of Women), with Valore D and in companies she has worked for.
She loves cooking, travelling around the world, and practicing yoga. She has been married for more than 25 years and she has a wonderful daughter who lives in Boston.
